Tyldesley is a small town approximately 10 miles west of Manchester. The town was originally named 'Tyldesley Banks' in recognition of the three banks on which it is built. It is locally and affectionately known as 'Bongs'; slang formed from 'banks'. These prominent features are represented as the three green semicircles proudly displayed on the band's crest.
We currently have around 25 playing members aged 13 to 83, and numerous local supporters. The band is a member of the North West Brass Band Association (NWBBA) and takes part in various contests throughout the year as well as playing at local events and arranging concerts. The band enjoys a friendly atmosphere in the band room, a busy social schedule including an annual band dinner, and many members enjoy the 'de-briefing session' in The Mort Arms pub after rehearsals.
