Local to the area, Rob was taught by his father - chairman Charlie Taylor - on Tenor Horn.
He began his banding career playing in both the Salvation Army and Tyldesley Bands, and later to the Williams Fairey Band (now Fairey Geneva).
Rob then decided to take the up baton and began conducting, leading Eaton Farnworth Brass Band (now Farnworth & Walkden Band) and Moston & Beswick Band. He came back to Tyldesley in 2003, where the band have thoroughly valued his leadership and expertise, with the hope to continue for many years to come!
Rob comes from a family of skilled bandsmen, who in addition to leading Tyldesley Band is a peripatetic music teacher, teaching in various schools across the North West.
